Charlotte Bobcats iconKobe Loses His Cool as Lakers Fall to Bobcats - Charlotte Bobcats

March 27th, 2008
Jason Richardson and Raymond Felton got sick Wednesday morning, putting their status in question for the Charlotte Bobcats' game against the high-flying Los Angeles Lakers.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, they recovered in time to play. Richardson had 34 points and 10 rebounds, Felton added 13 points and 10 assists, and the lowly Bobcats stunned the Lakers 108-95 on Wednesday night in a game where Kobe Bryant drew two technical fouls in a span of 29 seconds late in the fourth quarter and was ejected.

Charlotte Bobcats iconBobcats Sign 5-foot-5 Boykins - Charlotte Bobcats

February 1st, 2008

Staring at an Eastern Conference where there's no such thing as eight teams with winning records, the Bobcats made a little move in pursuit of the playoffs.

Thursday they signed 5-foot-5-inch point guard Earl Boykins -- the second-shortest player in NBA history -- for the rest of the season. Boykins is diminutive (5-foot-3 Bobcats radio analyst Muggsy Bogues was the only NBA player shorter), but he can light up the scoreboard with his quickness and shooting ability.

Sean May, the second-year forward out of North Carolina, has been plagued by a right knee injury that required surgery to remove cartilage last season. He then developed a bone bruise in the knee in January. May has missed 30 of the past 35 games and said he'll likely sit out the rest of the season.

"The self-discipline is going to be really, really important," Bickerstaff said.

"In terms of taking care of your diet and being in the best possible shape. Not coming in good shape, coming in in great shape," May said after working out in the weight room before the game Friday. "What he means by discipline is, just taking the initiative, do the work, make sure I do the work for myself and the franchise."

Charlotte Bobcats iconPlan To Undermine Dress Code Hits Snag - Charlotte Bobcats

March 28th, 2006
Raymond Felton is still feeling the effects of a February car accident and he was sore Sunday. That didn't matter to him; he still wanted to play. And he figured he would because -- as is his practice -- he didn't pack suitable clothes to wear on the bench that would pass the NBA's dress code. "That's my strategy," said Felton. "Just in case they tell me they don't want me to play, I'll have to because I don't have a suit. So I don't bring one on purpose." When trainer Joe Sharpe recommended to coach Bernie Bickerstaff that Felton shouldn't play, a brief sartorial crisis ensued. It was solved when guard Kevin Burleson volunteered his blazer and shirt to the cause.
