It's apparent that Ron Artest's change of heart about playing for the Indiana Pacers won't affect Donnie Walsh's decision to trade the former All-Star forward. The Pacers CEO said Monday that he's in the process of narrowing the list of suitors for a deal. "Right now I'm looking to see what's doable," Walsh said.Walsh, who has said he will leave Artest on the inactive list until he can make a deal, reiterated he's not going to rush into anything. The NBA's trading deadline is Feb. 23. Walsh declined to discuss the Artest situation specifically Monday.

If the agent for disgruntled forward Ron Artest gets his wish, his client will remain with the Indiana Pacers . Artest went public with his desire to be traded last weekend, and the Pacers are trying to accommodate him. "Hopefully, it won't get done, and we can iron out the differences and work past this," said Mark Stevens, Artest's agent. "Indiana is a great city, a great organization. Both entities need each other."

Point guard Anthony Johnson blurted out what many have thought about the Indiana Pacers as he walked out of the locker room Saturday night following the team's victory over Memphis.
"There's always drama in Pacerland," he said.
The drama got more suspenseful earlier Saturday, when forward Ron Artest said he wants to play elsewhere and that the Pacers would be better without him.

Indiana Pacers players Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson were sentenced to a year's probation Friday, plus 60 hours of community service and $250 fines for their roles in one of the worst brawls in U.S. sports history.

The three, all of whom entered pleas of no contest, were also ordered to undergo anger management counseling, although Oakland County assistant prosecutor John Pietrofesa said Artest had already completed the counseling as part of his NBA suspension. "We're very satisfied with the resolution today," Pietrofesa said. "They decided to take responsibility and to move forward, and that's probably the best thing for everyone involved."

Pacers land European guard sought by Bird - Indiana Pacers

Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird will get the player he's been coveting, after all.
Lithuanian guard Sarunas Jasikevicius agreed Sunday night to a three-year contract reportedly worth $12 million with the Pacers.
Jasikevicius, who played college basketball at Maryland, chose the Pacers over Utah and Cleveland.

“I always knew I’m a ghetto-type guy,” the Indiana Pacers forward said Monday. “I’m from the ‘hood. I’m going to be ghetto for the rest of my life. At the same time there’s a lot of kids out there that look up to you. For that I’ll change.”

Artest conducted a formal interview with the local media for the first time since last Nov. 19. NBA commissioner David Stern suspended him for the remainder of the season, a total of 73 games, for rushing into the stands at the Palace of Auburn Hills after he was hit by a beer thrown by a fan.
