New Orleans Hornets

Hornets Sting Back, Lead Series 3-2 - New Orleans Hornets

May 14th, 2008
The Hornets waited two games, almost as patiently as any team could, for the return of the intensity, aggressiveness and energy that they credited for getting them into the Western Conference playoffs. In the end, the return came with a homecoming game at the gold-flavored New Orleans Arena and one of the best performances of David West's career.

The Hornets snapped a two-game losing streak and regained the upper hand in a conference semifinal series against the San Antonio Spurs, beating the defending champions 101-79 before a sellout crowd of 18,246 on Tuesday night.

Paul Propels Hornets to Another Victory - New Orleans Hornets

May 6th, 2008
Shutting down David West only gave the San Antonio Spurs front-row seats for plenty of Chris Paul highlights.

With razzle-dazzle dribbles and a driving floater that couldn't miss, Paul had 30 points and 12 assists, leading the New Orleans Hornets to a 102-84 victory Monday night and a 2-0 lead over the Spurs in their second-round series.

Peja Stojakovic hit five 3-pointers and scored 25 points for the Hornets, who've won both games by wide margins in becoming the first team to put San Antonio in an 0-2 playoff hole since 2001, when the Spurs were swept by the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals.

Tim Duncan had a rare terrible night, going 1-of-9 from the field for a career playoff-low five points and only three rebounds.

Paul's Triple-double Helps Hornets Advance Past Mavs - New Orleans Hornets

April 30th, 2008
David West stumbled toward the sideline after hitting a fadeaway as he was fouled, then turned toward the bench and slapped the extended hand of Hornets coach Byron Scott.

It was an impromptu but fitting exchange between a player and coach who had plenty to celebrate on Tuesday night.

On the day Scott was named NBA coach of the year for the first time, he gave fans in New Orleans another first: an NBA playoff series victory.

West powers Hornets past Mavs; Move Up 3-1 - New Orleans Hornets

April 28th, 2008
David West and Chris Paul were on the bench, smiling as they watched thousands of fans headed to their cars. They'd already seen Jason Kidd lose his cool and get tossed, and saw police take away a ref-baiting loudmouth a few seats from Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

They were soaking it all in because it might be their last glimpse of Dallas for a while.

West bounced back from a miserable Game 3 with a determined effort in Game 4, scoring 10 points in an early second half rally that sent the Hornets surging past the Mavericks 97-84 on Sunday night, giving them a 3-1 lead in the first-round series.

Paul Disects Mavs as Hornets Roll 127-103 - New Orleans Hornets

April 23rd, 2008
Dirk Nowitzki skipped out to the perimeter, joining Jason Kidd as they attempted to trap Chris Paul.

Paul promptly let them know they were in for long night, knifing into the lane on the dribble and dropping in a pretty floater.

As brilliant as Paul was in his playoff debut last weekend, his encore was better. He had 32 points and a franchise playoff-record 17 assists Tuesday night as New Orleans routed Dallas 127-103 and took a 2-0 lead in the first-round series.
