June 10, 2008
Gilbert Arenas said he opted out of the final year of his contract with the Washington Wizards by filing the necessary paperwork with the league office Friday. Butler's Heroics Help Wizards Win Game 5 in Cleveland - Washington Wizards
May 1st, 2008
Caron Butler saved Washington's season. This was the game that makes the Wizards viable as a playoff team. Holding off the squad with the NBA's best record -- and beating the Boston Celtics three out of four times this season -- enables Eddie Jordan to finally see the possibilities.
For just the second time this calendar year, Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler were on the floor together, where they stared down Boston's Big Three and won a game last night that had all the makings of a second-round playoff series, replete with big stars and what should be humongous television ratings.

Wizards Get No Rest - Washington Wizards
April 8th, 2008
For some teams, a clinched playoff berth often means an opportunity to rest starters in anticipation of a demanding postseason. But for the Washington Wizards, who secured a spot in the playoffs with a 109-95 victory over the Miami Heat on April 4, the final five games of the regular season instead will provide an opportunity for the injury-riddled squad to tinker with lineups in hopes of allowing players to jell -- especially with superstar guard Gilbert Arenas -- before the start of the playoffs.
With Arenas back in the rotation after missing 66 games this season with a left knee injury, Wizards Coach Eddie Jordan said yesterday he hopes to use Arenas with several combinations of players to facilitate a high level of comfort for the start of the playoffs.
